February 23, 2022

If you are not a morning person, waking up in the morning can be dreading. But this overnight oats with chia seeds recipe makes it all worth it!

I can almost say that I’m a morning person now!

We can’t all be morning people, especially with a delicious, healthy breakfast like this.

This 3-ingredient overnight oats recipe is perfect for the morning hater (or lover). With only 3 simple ingredients, you can make a healthy and delicious breakfast for the whole week.

It may feel strange to not cook the oats, but by soaking them in milk overnight, the oats break down and are easy to digest.

The soaking process also changes the texture of the oats and chia, so it’s much creamier and richer. Once you try overnight oats, I doubt you’ll go back to traditional stovetop oatmeal.

This simple overnight oats recipe takes a few minutes to make but is filled with health benefits. In each bite, you’ll get a boost of fiber, protein, iron, and more!

How To Make Overnight Oats with Chia Seeds

Depending on how often you want to eat overnight oats, there are two main ways to make the recipe.

Make the oats in a mason jar

If you only want to make a small batch of overnight oats, you’ll likely make the oats directly in the mason jar. Add the ingredients into a mason jar, stir thoroughly, and place it in the fridge. Once you wake up, your overnight oats will be ready to eat!

There will be much less cleaning this way, but this method has flaws. Because of the small space, chia seeds tend to clump up a lot more. This isn’t a huge issue, but some people don’t like that kind of texture.

Make a large batch in a mixing bowl

Let’s say you fall in love with overnight oats, and want to make a batch for the whole week. Then it is best to make the oats in a large bowl first. Mix the dry oats and chia in the bowl first, then add in the milk. Since you have a lot more space with this method, you can easily add more ingredients to change up the flavor.

This method prevents the chia from clumping and is great for large batches. But, there is more cleaning up that you need to do.

The manner in which you make your overnight oats depends on how much you want to make.
